1. Do I have to pay admission if I am not swimming, just watching my child, or if there is limited time left during Recreation Swim?

Yes. All patrons entering the facility must pay the full admission rate. Your admission fee allows you access to the entire facility and its amenities. No discounted admissions are available.

2. Can I wear a shirt or other clothing when swimming?

No. All swimmers must wear proper swim attire, which includes male/female swim suits considered appropriate by staff. Water shirts or "rash" guards are allowed for sun protection and safety. Street clothes including: jean shorts or cut-offs, unapproved shorts, sweatpants, leggings, tank tops or other non-water shirts are not permitted in the pool.

3. Do I have to wear a face covering at the facility?

Face masks are not required for those who are fully vaccinated. 

4. Will there be deck furniture available?

There will be deck furniture (i.e. loungers). However, they are first come, first serve basis. We invite you to bring your own seating into our facility.

5. Can I purchase an Aquatic Season Pass?

Aquatic Season Passes will be available for Summer 2022.

6. Will the inflatable obstacle course be available during Rec Swim?

Double Trouble and Shipwreck’d inflatables will be available at both. Wristbands for inflatables can be purchased for a nominal fee at Front Desk and/or Concession Stand.

7. Are water wings, flotation devices, or floatation devices that are built into swim suits permitted?

No. Only Coast Guard Type II and III approved lifejackets are permitted. Cosumnes CSD provides Coast Guard approved lifejackets. We have a limited number of lifejackets available on a first come, first serve basis. All other flotation devices are not allowed because of safety risks.

8. How old does my child need to be to enter the facility without a paying adult (18 years or older)?

Children age 10 and older may enter the Jerry Fox Swim Center, Wackford Community & Aquatic Complex, and Elk Grove Aquatics Center without being accompanied by an adult; any child under the age of 10 must be accompanied by a paying adult. During Swim for Fitness hours, participants must be 16 years or older to enter the facility without being accompanied by an adult.

9. To what temperature is the pool heated?

All CSD Aquatics Facilities are heated pools and the temperature is set between 78° and 82° F. This is a temperature range that follows United States Swimming regulations.

10. Who needs to wear swim diapers?

All children that are not potty trained need to wear swim diapers to ensure the facility is following Health and Safety Code requirements.

11. Will my child have the same swim instructor for the entire session of swim lessons?

Yes. Having a consistent swim instructor is very important in your child’s learning development. A substitute instructor may fill in, in cases of illness or family emergency.

12. How do I know which swim lesson to sign my child up for?

While our swim lesson levels do have age requirements associated, you should enroll your child in the class that best fits your child’s ability. 13. If my child becomes ill during swim lessons is there a make-up day?

Unfortunately, due to limited time and space, we are not able to offer any make-up days for missed swim lessons. However, instructors review skills with participants each day to help retain knowledge and build their skills.

14. How deep is the pool my child will be in for swim lessons?

The depth of the pool depends on your child's class level, and ranges from 1 foot to 13 feet. During the swim lesson we encourage children to not rely on the bottom of the pool for assistance. We hope to challenge your child to learn in a positive atmosphere that encourages independent swimming.

15. Is there a requirement before a patron is allowed to swim in Deep Xtreme or Big Kahuna and go off the diving boards?

It is highly recommended that swimmers under the age of 10 be accompanied by a responsible adult while swimming in this area and that swimmers feel comfortable in deep water. This area is not for beginning swimmers or swimmers in lifejackets. Please use caution when swimming in deep water.

16. What are the requirements to ride the water slides at Wackford Aquatics Complex, Elk Grove Aquatics Center or Jerry Fox Swim Center??

For the Elk Grove Aquatic Center and Wackford Aquatic Complex, the slides are single rider water slides and the rider must be at least 48 inches tall to ride. For Jerry Fox Swim Center, the single rider water slide, riders must be 42 inches tall to ride. *The slide at Jerry Fox Swim Center is closed to the public until further notice. A detailed list of rules is available at the entrances to Typhoon Tower, Jungle Falls, Coconut Cannon and Clyde’s Plunge and is the riders responsibility to read.

17. Are food, drinks, coolers, umbrellas or BBQ’s allowed inside the facility?

Coolers/ice chests will be inspected upon entry to the facility. NO GLASS or ALCOHOL is allowed! Umbrellas and easy-ups are permitted as long as they do not stake into the ground. BBQ’s are not permitted inside any of our facilities.

18. Are goggles, fins, kickboards or snorkels allowed in the pool?

Goggles and masks are allowed in the pool, as long as they do not cover the nose, but most be removed before riding the slide or using diving boards. Fins, kickboards, and snorkels are only allowed during lap swim program hours.

19. Do you allow amplified music and outside sound systems in your facilities?

No, due to safety precautions, outside speakers and amplified music is not allow.  Wackford Aquatic Complex and Elk Grove Aquatics Center have built in sound systems for your listening pleasure.
