Cosumnes Community Services District today announced the selection of Nou Vang as its new Director of Finance. Ms. Vang brings to the district a wealth of knowledge in municipal finance, accounting and budgeting in both the private and public sector.
Ms. Vang is the first Hmong to hold a finance position of this stature in the Sacramento region. The region is home to one of the largest Hmong populations in the country. Her appointment is an important milestone for a community that feels underrepresented in American society and one that will contribute to the effort of closing the equity gap amongst minorities.
“We are thrilled to welcome Nou to the District,” said Nitish Sharma, Chief Administrative Officer. “She has a broad array of financial tools and experience to steward our Finance Division as we continue to operate efficiently and transparently for the residents we serve.”
Ms. Vang most recently served as Deputy Director of Finance for the California Primary Care Association overseeing finance, budget and accounting functions. Ms. Vang has previously served as a manager in the City of Davis Finance Department and as an auditor for accounting firm Richardson and Company, LLC.
“I am honored to join the Cosumnes Community Services District where I can contribute to the positive and recognizable impact the district has in our diverse community,” said Ms. Vang.
Ms. Vang holds a bachelor’s degree in Finance from California State University, Chico and graduated with distinction from the Keller Graduate School of Management with a master’s in Accounting.
Ms. Vang’s employment begins today, Sept. 7.
