You can help the Cosumnes Community Services District name two new parks in Elk Grove! Nominations are now being accepted through May 24.
Nominations should reflect something or someone of significance to the region. Perhaps the name should be inspired by a historical figure or event or by local flora or fauna. It could be influenced by something else altogether!
There are currently two parks under naming consideration:
- Park Site A is a 4-acre park located in the Crooked Creek development of east Elk Grove, between Waterman Road and Grant Line Road. (map)
- Park Site B is a 2.5-acre park located in the Sheldon Farms North development in the Laguna area of Elk Grove, directly east of Bruceville Road and south of Sheldon Road. (map)
Both are planned neighborhood parks which typically include a playground with two age-specific areas with swings and a shade element, a picnic area with a shelter, 1 or 2 small sports courts, a small water play area or other special amenity, a loop trail, non-programmed open space, landscaping and benches. While the design theme for Park Site A has not yet been developed, Park Site B will have a “great outdoors and camping” theme.
The nomination form, a complete list of criteria, and additional filing details are available on the District’s website. Any facility and park naming nomination previously submitted to the District must be resubmitted for consideration. All nominations must be submitted or postmarked before Monday, May 24 at 5 p.m.
