COVID-19 Update: March 17, 2020

Coronavirus Update from Cosumnes CSD

March 17, 2020 at 7:12 p.m.

Elk Grove, Calif. - Following the latest guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the California Department of Public Health, and the Sacramento County Public Health Department, the Cosumnes Community Services District has taken additional steps to help slow the spread of COVID-19 in the community.

Yesterday, the California Department of Public Health issued new guidance to protect public health and slow the spread of COVID-19, including prohibiting all gatherings of any size anywhere in the state, effective immediately and lasting until the department provides further guidance.

Notice of the changes below will be posted and updated at, on the District’s Facebook accounts managed by individual programs and events, and by email to registered participants.

The following closures to facilities, programs and events will go into effect immediately, until further notice:

  • All recreation programs are postponed or canceled.
  • All events hosted by the Cosumnes CSD are postponed or canceled.
  • All facility, field and picnic rentals are postponed or canceled.
  • Emerald Lakes Golf Course located at 10651 E. Stockton Boulevard is closed.
  • The Elk Grove Aquatics Center, Administration Office, and Wackford Community and Aquatic Complex are closed to the public but can still be reached by phone at (916) 405-5600.
  • Fire Department Headquarters and Fire Stations will be closed to the public but can still be reached by phone at (916) 405-7100.

Participants in any programs that are canceled or postponed will receive a credit on their account during this time period. Rental fees for cancelled events will also be refunded, even if they are within the no-cancellation period. Please give us a call at (916) 405-5600 for any questions.

District board meetings will be held remotely until further notice. The meetings can be live-streamed at

For now, Elk Grove’s park and trail system will remain open to provide an outdoor space for the community to stay well – physically and mentally. However, it is important for park and trail users to keep a safe social distance and follow CDC’s recommendations, including:

  • Wash hands before and after being outdoors, carry hand sanitizer, do not use the parks or trails if you are sick, cover your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing, etc.
  • Always observe CDC’s minimum recommended social distancing of six feet from other people. Practice it and know what it looks like. Keep it as you walk, bike or hike.
  • Warn other trail users of your presence and as you pass to allow proper distance and step off trails to allow others to pass, keeping minimum recommended distances at all times. Signal your presence with your voice, bell or horn.
  • Bring a suitable trash bag. Leave no trash, take everything out to protect park workers.

There is no higher priority to the Cosumnes CSD than the health and safety of our community and employees. Because the situation continues to evolve rapidly, we may reevaluate and decide to modify or extend these measures based on guidance from public health officials.  We will communicate any changes with you as we normally would.
