Discover the secrets for growing award-winning GIANT pumpkins at the annual California Giant Pumpkin Growers Forum on Saturday, March 7 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Elk Grove Park Pavilion.
The forum is open to the public and will include a question-and-answer session, catered lunch, seed swap, seed raffle, seed auction and prize more! Pumpkin farmers of all skill levels are encouraged to attend. Participants can also shop the pop-up Pumpkin Store for their favorite Elk Grove Giant Pumpkin Festival apparel.
This fall, many of the forum’s attendees will enter their gigantic gourds into the 26th annual Elk Grove Giant Pumpkin Weigh-Off on October 3. Last year’s first-place pumpkin was grown by Leonardo Urena, of Napa, and came in at a whopping 1,938 pounds.
This year’s featured guest speaker is pumpkin Hall of Famer, Jack LaRue. This seasoned pro has grown over 10 first-place giant pumpkins. LaRue’s success has taken him all over the country and even on TV! Don’t miss this opportunity to learn from one of the world’s best growers.
