Taking Care of Our Feathered Friends

Fishing in Elk Grove Park

The Cosumnes CSD is working to implement a new Wildlife Protection Plan at Elk Grove Park. Fishing at Elk Grove Park will be reinstated on a seasonal basis starting March 1, 2020.

The Cosumnes CSD is working to implement a new Wildlife Protection Plan at Elk Grove Park. We want to thank the many individuals and organizations who contributed to the plan and we look forward to continuing these partnerships to ensure its success.

Follow these 3 simple steps to protect our feathered friends:

  1. Fish Responsibly
Fishing will be reinstated on a seasonal basis (March – November) starting March 1, 2020. Please read and observe all posted regulations. It’s important to properly dispose of fishing tackle to protect the wildlife that call Elk Grove Park home.
  2. Take Care of Our Feathered Friends
Feeding waterfowl unnatural food, such as bread and crackers, disrupts natural migration patterns and contributes to aggressive behavior, health problems and disease. We encourage you to enjoy the waterfowl at Elk Grove Park, but please refrain from feeding them.
  3.  Leave No Trace
Litter takes away from the Elk Grove Park experience for all the species that visit.

Thanks for your help and cooperation in contributing to sustainable fishing at Elk Grove Park!
