Bartholomew Sports Park Synthetic Turf Replacement

Bartholomew Sports Park is getting an upgrade! The 46-acre complex opened in 2010 has approximately 500,000-square feet of synthetic turf which is in need of replacement.

The synthetic turf will be replaced with upgraded, latest generation fiber. The new cushioning system will incorporate a “Cool Fill” material that will reduce on-field temperatures by as much as 35 degrees. This project extends the use of the fields another 10 to 12 years.

In addition, CSD Planning Staff were able to add a cricket pitch between Fields 3 and 4 to facilitate the programming of Cricket without impacting sports already being played on those fields.

Tentative Closures:

  • Fields 1 and 2 will be closed for approximately 6 weeks starting Sept. 17, with partial closure of the Whitelock Pkwy parking lot during this time.
  • Fields 3 and 4 will be closed for approximately 6 weeks starting Oct. 8, with partial closure of the Franklin High Rd. parking lot during this time.

The construction schedule is weather permitting. Other park amenities will remain open and will have minimal impact as the fields will not be fenced off during construction.
