Come see how McConnell Park has been transformed on Tuesday, Aug. 21 at 6 p.m. during a renovation celebration hosted by the Cosumnes Community Services District (CSD) Parks and Recreation Department.
Originally built in 1995, this 6.6-acre park is located in the Hampton Village neighborhood of Elk Grove. Construction on the $888,000 revitalization project began earlier this year.
This revitalization project was made possible by the residents of Hampton Village who voted to increase their annual assessments to fund both the construction and maintenance of the new facilities. This park now has something for everyone!
Improvements include a larger playground with separate areas for 2-5 and 5-12 year olds, large shade structure with picnic tables and barbecue, quarter-mile decomposed granite walking trail, adult fitness equipment, half-court basketball, drinking fountains with bottle fillers, and new landscaping and irrigation improvements.
New outdoor musical instruments will nurture discovery and bring joy to children, families and communities. This outdoor music space promotes community engagement as it invites people of all ages and abilities to collaborate in creative ways.
Festivities will include activities for the kids, a performance by a drumline, and a free shaved ice to the first 200 guests. This celebration is sponsored in part by Miracle Play Systems.
