Park Naming

Cosumnes Community Services District names parks and recreation facilities after individuals and families that have made significant contributions to Elk Grove, or after historic, geographic or ecological resources important to the area.
There are no park naming opportunities at this time. If you would like to receive notice of when the CSD will accept nominations, please complete the form.

The City of Elk Grove periodically requests public nominations for the naming of City parks. Please visit the City's Name That Park page for more information.

Park Naming Criteria
  1. Individuals/families that have provided significant, long-term contributions to the health and wellness or the quality of life to the community of Elk Grove, demonstrating service and commitment to the community.
  2. If an individual is deceased, a period of at least one year must elapse prior to taking nominations for naming a park/recreation facility in his/her name.
  3. Names will not be considered if the individual or family has other community facilities named in their honor, unless the contributions are specific to parks and recreation and are extremely significant, with the exception of schools and preferably joining school park sites.
  4. The name of park/recreation facilities may be based upon geographical, historical or ecological relationships indigenous or of significance to the region.
  5. The park/recreation facility shall be selected in an area as close as possible to the residence of the individual or family, or the location of the geographic, historic, or ecological resource.
  6. Park/recreation facilities shall not be named after a local elected official until one year after the official is retired from office.
  7. Park/recreation facilities may not be named after any service organizations.
