GIANT Thanks to our Pumpkin Pals and 2021 Supporters
After two years, thousands of pumpkin enthusiasts returned to Elk Grove Park to kick off the fall season at the 27th annual Elk Grove Giant Pumpkin Festival on October 2 & 3, 2021.
Pumpkin grower Leonardo Urena won his fourth championship and a $7,000 cash prize with his 1,623-pound behemoth at the Giant Pumpkin Weigh-Off, the Festival’s centerpiece.
Given the continuing concerns around COVID-19, high-touch activities like bounce houses and carnival games were removed, numerous handwashing and hand sanitizing stations were added, and vendor and activity booths were spread out to allow more open spacing. While the Pumpkin Regatta and Pumpkin Pie-Eating Contest took the year off to prevent large crowds from gathering in small areas, many other festival favorites returned like food vendors, arts and crafts, live music, carnival rides, pumpkin patch, and more.
Overall, it was a GOURD-geous weekend where families and friends safely returned to the park to reconnect, continue fall traditions, and create new memories together.
We are grateful for 27 years of tremendous support from our attendees, growers, volunteers, sponsors, and all who are involved!
