PERMIT INFORMATION

Plan Review Inspection Fee Schedule

The Cosumnes CSD Fire Department issues two types of permits, burn permits and fire permit cards. The burn permit gives an individual the right to conduct open agricultural burning. The fire permit card is required for all new commercial or residential construction projects, as well as commercial tenant improvements, including certificate of occupancy tenant improvements.

Burn Permits
The Cosumnes CSD Fire Department issues burn permits for those in the "open" and "limited" burn areas of Elk Grove and Galt. Area Map. The permits are $20.00 and are valid until they expire on January 1st of each calendar year regardless of the month in which the permit was purchased and issued. If you have any questions or require additional clarification, please contact our Fire Department Fire Prevention Bureau at (916) 405-7100 or (866) 598-FIRE (toll-free).

Fire Permit Cards
Fire permit cards are issued for commercial and residential new construction and additions, commercial tenant improvements, festivals, carnivals, and large tents.

Festivals/Carnivals/Fairs
Having an extravaganza? The following outlines fire and life safety requirements for fairs, carnivals, etc. Click here for the Requirements. It may be necessary to submit plans to the Cosumnes CSD Fire Department for approval. Be sure to allow enough time to go through the approval process, which could take up to three weeks.

Tents for Events
Planning on throwing a party? Tents are a good idea to keep people shaded, warm, and protected from other natural occurrences; however, they can also provide a natural danger. The Cosumnes CSD Fire Department regulates the use of tents in accordance with the Uniform Fire Code and Title 19 of the California Code of Regulations for Public Safety. Contact the Cosumnes CSD Fire Department for more details. Plans may be required.
