In November 2006 the Parks and Recreation Department initiated a Call for Projects process that invited
requests for park projects. As a result, the District received a total of 71 project requests. Although
some projects have been added to the Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) and others included in the master
plan update, a large number of projects remain unfunded at this time. The process was envisioned to be
initiated annually, however, due to the large number of project requests, the current number of unfunded
projects in the CIP and the desire to provide the public with realistic expectations about projects,
staff determined it was to initiate the Call for Projects process once every three years.
The next Call for Projects is scheduled for December 2009.
