LOCATION Whitelock Parkway & Wild Orchid Way (EAST FRANKLIN)
DESCRIPTION This park is proposed to contain soccer fields, jogging trail, open grassed area, meditation area, small water play element, half-court basketball, adult fitness, large picnic area, shade structures, parking lot and restrooms. Two separate play areas are planned: a 2-5 year old area and a 5-12 year old area.
PROGRESS Currently at Step 6 - Plan Review and Permits. Park construction will begin in spring 2008.

  • BIOGRAPHY Frank Kunsting moved to the Franklin area in 1889 and married Bernardina Hoffnecht, niece to Frank Luttig. The Kunsting´s had a very successful proprietorship and as business grew, Frank brought his nephew, Meinard Kunsting, over from Germany to help in the business. The Kunsting family business grew to include a general merchandise store with a saloon and notary public, Freeport Telephone Exchange, Franklin Post Office and the Franklin Hotel & Saloon.
