| BIOGRAPHY |
Carl & Joyce Amundson owned the "Cow Palace" theater where cattle auctions were held during
the weekdays and movies were held in the evenings and weekends. They left the palace in 1955 and joined the
Elk Grove Businessmen’s Association. Both were charter members of the Elk Grove Historical Society
and helped with the reconstruction project to rebuild the historic Elk Grove Hotel as a museum. Carl was the
first Historical Society president and Joyce has had the role of recording secretary. Carl is a past president
and lifetime member of the EG Rotary Club. Joyce is a past president and on-going secretary of the EG Rotary
Interwheel. Both have received the Rotary "Paul Harris Fellowship Award." Carol Amundson was Elk
Grove Citizen of the Year in 1979.
