The Cosumnes CSD Parks and Recreation Department is developing a comprehensive Parks, Recreation, and Facilities Master Plan, also known as Elk Grove's Plan for Play. Community input is vital to its success and will determine future direction for the Parks and Recreation Department.
This webpage will be regularly updated with the latest information related to the Master Plan’s progress, community’s input and feedback opportunities. Please return to this webpage for updates.
The Master Plan will ensure the CSD prepares for future growth while maintaining existing parks, facilities and programs at optimal levels.
Some of the considerations are:
Development - Confirming amenities and programming at 33 future parks throughout Elk Grove, plus two (2) future community centers, one at Morse Park and one in the East Elk Grove area
Recreation Programs - Developing recreation opportunities to strengthen community pride and improve health and wellness
Partnerships - Strengthening collaborations with the City of Elk Grove, Elk Grove Unified School District, community groups, volunteers, park and facility users, and businesses
Funding - Identifying sustainable funding measures for facility development, exciting and inclusive recreation programs, and park system maintenance
Operations - Proactively planning to effectively maintain existing and new parks, facilities, and recreation programs
The CSD will solicit input from Elk Grove's
demographically diverse population through stakeholder interviews, focus
groups, an online survey, and community workshops.
Everyone is invited to participate!
The Plan for Play online survey is an opportunity to tell us what you like or don't like about your parks and recreation programs.
Samples of survey questions:
Do you use your parks and programs? If not, why?
Which is your favorite park? Why?
What are the most important features to include in future parks?
The CSD will be hosting three workshops throughout the community. The first two workshops will focus on needs and opportunities for parks, recreation and facilities. Participants will learn about the park and program planning process, have an opportunity to share their concerns, and identify their hopes for future parks, programs, and facilities. Both workshops will have a similar format. The third and final workshop will recap feedback received from the community thus far, and will focus on the vision and future for the CSD Parks and Recreation Department.
