In the early morning hours of February 20, 2015, the Cosumnes Community Services District Administration Building suffered significant fire damage. Located at 8820 Elk Grove Blvd., the 94-year-old building was a familiar landmark in the community. While retaining a significant portion of the historically-significant brick exterior walls, much of the damaged roof, building systems and interiors will be replaced with new construction in order to transform the building into contemporary and energy-efficient office space.
MFDB Architects, Inc. developed a comprehensive design plan that will better use the existing square footage, modernize the space, and provide amenities that are desirable to staff. Diede Construction, Inc. will begin project construction in June 2017 with an estimated 12-14 month construction period.
Pre-Construction Work In Progress
There are items that need to be cleaned up before the remodel begins:
Complete removal of roof structure for the support of previously installed temporary weather protection
Soda blasting of all damaged materials, particularly wood surfaces
Removal of warped wood flooring down to diagonal decking
Removal of soils sloughed against wood materials in crawlspace
Removal of old HVAC units and other site-stored abandoned equipment from site
